In an effort to improve their sex life, a growing number of women are getting special cosmetic surgery down below, such as laser vaginal rejuvenation and labiaplasty. But are these procedures safe or just the latest cosmetic surgery trends? Before you shell out the cash for these beauty treatments, it’s important to know the pros and cons of tinkering with our bodies. The following is a brief description of laser vaginal rejuvenation as well what you can expect after the treatment.
Can getting cosmetic surgery on your most private parts actually enhance your sex life? That’s what many gynecologists, plastic surgeons, and urologists are saying these days. Dr. Joseph Berenholz, who practices out of his state-of-the-art Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of Michigan in Farmington Hills, is just one of the plastic surgeons who offers a host of sexual-enhancement surgeries, including laser vaginal rejuvenation, designer laser vaginoplasty, G-spot amplification, and special surgery for issues with vaginal or pelvic relaxation.
According to Dr. Berenholz, laser vaginal rejuvenation (LVJ) does in fact enhance sexual gratification. However, sexual gratification is not the only reason women seek LVR. LVR is also being used as an effective treatment for women who have stress urinary incontinence, or involuntary loss of urine while sneezing, coughing, exercising, or during sex.
So what is LVR? A one-hour procedure, LVR is a laser surgery designed to improve vaginal muscle tone, strength, and control. Anesthesia is available by a board certified anesthesiologist. If you undergo LVR or labiaplasty in Indiana, you can expect the procedure to be performed at Dr. Berenholz’s advanced surgical center. The center offers comfortable and clean accommodations.
Recovery is fairly quick, considering the surgery. After the treatment, you will be given a vaginal pack and will be transferred to the recovery room. If you’re not from Michigan, you can expect to return home in four days. Most people go back to work within five to seven days, and resume sexual activity in six weeks.
Is it safe? LVR is considered a safe, low-risk procedure. There is a less than 1 percent chance of hemorrhage and infection. According to Dr. Berenholz, there is more risk associated with pregnancy than laser vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty in Minnesota. Discomfort after the surgery is also very minimal. Most patients are pain-free for the first 18 to 24 hours. After that, they can expect slight swelling, bruising, and pain after the treatment. However, cold packs can be used to reduce the discomfort.
